The Sussex Military History Society was formed in late
1998 to encourage regeneration of county militaria, aeronautica and naval material. All classes of interests are encouraged, primarily current membership covers the Napoleonic period through to postwar defence subjects. Monthly meetings are held from 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start. The venue is the Function Room above the Royal Oak, Station Street,Lewes, East Sussex. Monthly newsheets are available at meetings, with topical news and information, plus future projects. Weekend trips and parties of exploration are encouraged when available. Potential members need not have any specific militaria interests, or obligation to volunteer knowledge or lecture at meetings. We are concerned with encouraging information on county military activity and sharing enthusiasms in a convivial atmosphere. Talks available - Home Guard 'Underground Army' - Newhaven Fort - WWII artefacts, sites, memorials, tank roads, defences etc. Please give the group a try, let us know of any specific interests, or just come along and relax in the roomy public house and sample some Sussex hospitality and ales with like minded souls terra incognita . . . |
